Privacy Policy
 
We respect your privacy at all times.
Disclosure of information
i. If you are a British Institute of Verbatim Reporters (BIVR) member your Data may be used to send you, by post or by email, any BIVR publications made available to BIVR members including regular newsletters and updates on events and activities. It will also be used for BIVR administrative purposes such as membership renewal reminders.
ii. If you are not a BIVR member your Data may be used, with your written consent, to post your requirements on the members’ area of our Site for which we may charge a fee and to send you updates about the latest information available from the BIVR, by post, email, telephone or fax
iii. The BIVR will neither rent, sell nor make available your personal information to any third party unrelated to the BIVR, other than where we believe the law requires it or where we have sought and been given your specific permission to do so. Your details will only be on the Reporter Search section of our Site with your consent. We will always comply with UK data protection legislation currently in force.
What information is collected and how is it used.
 We collect personal information for the following purposes:
    i.   Membership assessment, administration and renewal of subscription and Practising Certificate.
ii. Event Management and CPD activities
iii. Administration and development of training and CPD programmes
iv. Website administration and development
v. Provision of associated services and benefits
vi. Provision of information relating to assignment opportunities for BIVR members and to service users accessing the “Reporter Search” section of our Site.
vii. On occasion we may contact you by telephone, fax, email or otherwise in writing to inform you about events that we consider may be of interest to you. 
Policy for including other people's news
We will consider including news and information from other individuals or organisations providing it is factual, has relevance to BIVR, is not offensive and is newsworthy. Inclusion does not imply any endorsement by BIVR. The decision to include or exclude an item is BIVR's.  Items should be addressed to sec@bivr.org.uk.

The BIVR Site contains links to other web sites provided as a convenience to you. You are under no obligation to use these sites, but if you choose to activate these links you should make yourself aware of their separate privacy and data collection policies.  We accept no responsibility or liability for such policies of these third parties.
Your acceptance of our privacy policy
i.        By using this Site and/or submitting your information to us, you consent to the BIVR keeping and using such information in the manner described in this Privacy Policy.
ii.      Our aim is to ensure that your details are current, accurate and complete. You have a right to see the information we hold about you at any time and we will correct it if it is inaccurate, provided we are notified accordingly.

As a result, while we strive to protect your personal data, we cannot warrant the absolute security of any Data you transmit to us online or to any other persons providing products or services online through bivr.org.uk. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your passwords in your possession and/or any information in your control.
v.      Be aware that email messages are not secure and BIVR cannot guarantee the confidentiality of information included in an email, but once it has arrived at BIVR it is subject to this policy
vi.    The BIVR reserves the right to modify, alter or otherwise update this Policy at any time and users are encouraged to review this Policy from time to time.
