It is advisable to arrange for a hands-on demonstration to see whether you have the aptitude to gain the necessary finger skills. There are a few courses in the UK in the stenotype machine. There are currently no courses on the Palantype machine.

This is a two-year course which includes medical, legal and English studies as well as Stenography where they achieve high speeds of Question and Answer testimony. In second year the students go on ten days work experience to complete this module and achieve a FETAC level 5 at the end of the course.
